Description
The firm was founded in 1934 by William F. Gurrie. Since 1990, its client base has expanded from the near west suburbs to all of the Chicagoland area by developing service lines for governments, as well as amassing the largest school district client-base in Illinois. The firm has also become so involved in governmental accounting that it now names several agencies of the U.S. Federal Government as clients. Combining Gurrie's resources with our existing Public Sector practice will be a great complement to our service offerings to this market segment.
Together with the Detroit merger with Kleiman, Carney & Greenbaum, also effective June 1, Virchow Krause now has more than 1,200 associates serving clients through offices in Illinois, Michigan, Minnesota, and Wisconsin.

We are very pleased to announce that Virchow Krause is expanding its presence in the greater Chicago market.
Effective June 1, 2006, the CPA and consulting firm of William F. Gurrie & Co., Ltd. has merged with Virchow Krause. Located at 1301 West 22nd Street in Oak Brook, the merger with Gurrie will add a total of 40 associates, including 3 partners. This opens our second Virchow Krause Chicago office
