About us & History
KyCPA promotes adherence to high professional and ethical standards. We represent the interests of the profession and promote awareness of the profession’s responsibility to the public interest.
The Secretary of State issued a charter for the Kentucky Society of CPAs on May 16, 1924 in Lexington. Formed by a small group of CPAs, the organization has since grown to represent almost 5,000 certified public accountants across the Commonwealth. And for all the things - socially, politically, technologically - that have changed in the last 80+ years, some things have remained the same. In the words of Paula Hanson, CPA, president 2004-2005: "The Society stands for something. It is the hallmark of the accounting profession. It recognizes those who are the best of the best – the CPA – and works tirelessly to serve the profession and the professional."
