Highlights
Illinois State is one of only 150 schools in the United States to have achieved accreditation by the AACSB International - The Association to Advance Collegiate Schools of Business for its undergraduate and graduate programs in business and accounting.
The Accounting Department has a national reputation for the number and success of students sitting for the CPA exam. First-time Candidates Without Advanced Degrees from Illinois State had a 66.7% pass rate for the May 2003 CPA exam (the national average was 17.6%).
First-time Candidates Without Advanced Degrees from Illinois State had a 47.6% pass rate for the May 2002 CPA Exam - 2nd highest pass rate in the country* (the national average was 15.4%) and a 38.7% pass rate for the November 2002 Exam - 5th highest pass rate in the country* (the national average was 16.7%). * For schools with 20 or more candidates.
The results of the two exams in 2002 placed Illinois State as one of only two schools in the country who ranked in the top 10 pass rates on both exams.
An accounting alum tied for the second highest Certified Public Accountant (CPA) exam score in the State of Illinois for the May 2002 exam and two alums tied with one other individual for the top score for the November 2002 exam.
Over the years, Illinois State has had 32 Elijah Watt Sells Award Winners; 1 National Gold Medal Winner, 5 State Gold Medal Winners, 4 Silver Medal Winners, 1 Bronze Medal Winner, and 8 Excel Award Winners.
A special Integrated Bachelor of Science/Master of Professional Accountancy program is available. This unique program is oriented toward preparation for careers in professional accounting to meet the formal requirements needed to sit for the CPA exam.
