The Association of Certified Fraud Examiners (ACFE) is a 36,000 member-based global association dedicated to providing anti-fraud education and training. Together with its members, the ACFE is reducing business fraud worldwide and inspiring public confidence in the integrity and objectivity of our profession.

The ACFE Mission

The mission of the Association of Certified Fraud Examiners is to reduce the incidence of fraud and white-collar crime and to assist the Membership in its detection and deterrence. To accomplish our mission, the ACFE:

  • Provides bona fide qualifications for Certified Fraud Examiners through administration of the CFE Examination
  • Sets high standards for admission, including demonstrated competence through mandatory continuing professional education
  • Requires Certified Fraud Examiners to adhere to a strict code of professional conduct and ethics
  • Serves as the international representative for Certified Fraud Examiners to business, government and academic institutions
  • Provides leadership to inspire public confidence in the integrity, objectivity, and professionalism of Certified Fraud Examiners

CFE Rules

Annual CPE Compliance The Association of Certified Fraud Examiners, in compliance with its bylaws, requires all Certified Fraud Examiners to maintain competence through Continuing Professional Education. CFEs must earn minimum CPE credits and retain CPE documents and records in order to maintain annual CPE Compliance. Read the requirements and extension details of Annual CPE Compliance.

Code of Professional Ethics All Certified Fraud Examiners must meet the rigorous criteria for admission to the Association of Certified Fraud Examiners. Thereafter, they must exemplify the highest moral and ethical standards and must agree to abide by the bylaws of the ACFE and the Certified Fraud Examiner Code of Professional Ethics. ACFE Bylaws The ACFE Bylaws are the rules and organizational structure that govern the ACFE, Certified Fraud Examiners, associate members, regents, officers and staff. All Certified Fraud Examiners agree to abide by the ACFE bylaws as part of their certification. Read the ACFE Bylaws.

Disciplinary Procedures The ACFE has a detailed procedure for handling formal complaints received against a Certified Fraud Examiner, Associate Member, or member in any other membership category. The Board of Regents has full authority and discretion to take disciplinary action in regards to complaints investigated and evaluated by the Board of Review and the General Counsel.
